dc.description.abstractThe basic objectives of democracy, as they take place openly in the definition of the concept and are lead primarily by freedom and equality, are listed as political representation, political participation and rights. The first important document created in the international arena concerning human rights is the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, an instrument of the United Nations. A regional agreement which has great significance is the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (ECHR), an instrument of the Council of Europe. An initiative that started as a Conference and was later turned into an organization, the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), comprises important provisions on human rightsen_US
